OutreachComputers for Kids Los AngelesComputers are an essential part of today's digital world. Most of us take access to technology for granted, as we often have computers at our homes and workplaces. However, many low-income students across the world don't have the computer access they need to finish their homework or complete school projects. What's more, because they don't have the opportunity to learn computer skills, they are at a disadvantage in today's technology-oriented world. We aim to fix this problem, one family at a time. Computers for Kids is a nonprofit program established by Aaron Feuer, founder of Airbear Software, that provides low-income students in Los Angeles with free computers. We collect donated computers, destroy the data according to Department of Defense 5220-22.M Standards [PDF] standards, refurbish them, and present them to deserving students who could not otherwise afford a computer. We also provide training to these students. We are currently seeking donations of computers, monitors, speakers, keyboards, mice, modems, surge protectors/power strips, and games or other software. We are also looking for volunteers who would like to participate in this program. Los Angeles, CA area only, please. |
